Wind-Turbine Speed Control Using MATLAB

The output frequency of a self excited induction generator (SEIG) driven by wind turbine and supplies static load are controlled, using MATLAB/simulink. The PID controller which employed for turbine rotor speed control and hence the frequency regulation is proposed and simulated by MATLAB software package. The modern wind turbines implement pitch control in order to tap maximum energy at wind speeds lower than rated wind speed. They are simple and rugged in construction and offer impressive efficiency under varying operating conditions. The PID controller which employed for turbine rotor speed control and hence the frequency regulation is proposed. In this paper, a turbine blade pitch control has been assumed for this purpose.

An Embedded Autonomous Robotic System for Alive Human Body Detection and Rescue Operation

The paper proposes a new approach for detecting alive human beings in devastating environments using a low cost autonomous robot. The proposed alive human body detection system uses a specific set of sensors that gives information about the presence of an alive human body and a low quality camera to acquire a video of scene of the environment. Having detected an obstacle or alive human body, the set of sensors trigger the camera to show live scene. The video is then displayed on a PC or a laptop at base station and processed at MATLAB for further analysis. The alive human detection system proposed in this paper is highly reliable as it is using a set of sensors for detection. The data and information required to be acquired and processed for rescue operation are less. So, it is very cost effective and faster to be applied in real-time operating environment.

Warning System for European Redmite Using Beta Model

European red mite is a serious problem of apple in Himachal Pradesh .At present more than 80 % orchards have been found infested with European red mite. It sucks cell sap from leaves which resulted into poor quality of fruits. Present studies were undertaken to see the effect of environmental factors e.g. temperature and relative humidity on the buildup of mite population in the apple trees at RHRS, Mashobra. The predicted optimum temperature and relative humidity was calculated by using Beta model is 21.45oC and <85% respectively. Since from the last few years regional observation and experimental database on prediction of pest attack on crop about infection index correspondence to above mentioned environmental parameters was prepared using software Microsoft EXCEL. After that from collected data a mathematical prediction model was developed using the MATLAB as software tool. A generalized form of Beta model was provided to best fit in the data. Automatic Washer Fault Detection using Pattern Recognition

Abstract- In last few years industries are facing a major problem in field of testing their final finished produce especially in the field of automobiles. Efficiency of the vehicles is affected when the parts are not tested properly. Hence the selection and rejection of this automobile part for the further implementation of automotive is needed. We are presenting our research paper on developing intelligence in machine so as to make machine to do accurate analysis and on the basis of this analysis machine is able to take accurate and correct decision regarding sorting of defective and non defective washers. Neural network technique which is part of pattern recognition is used to implement artificial intelligence in the machine. These technique is synthesized using MATLAB. hence we are providing the most promising solution for fast and accurate sorting technique for washers.

Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio under different  fading environment

In this Project emphasis has been laid on the study of cognitive radio technology and its spectrum sensing techniques. Here local spectrum sensing will be performed using energy detection procedure under two different kinds of environment namely-Additive White Gaussian Noise (non-fading) channel and Rayleigh Fading channel. The simulations will be done using MATLAB version 7.9.0(R2009b). From the results obtained, we will figure out the variations caused under fading environment when compared with that of non-fading environment. And thereafter the performance will be checked under collaborative spectrum sensing.

Compact Hybrid Power Source Using Fuel Cell and PV Array

Different energy sources and converters need to be integrated to meet sustained load demands while accommodating various natural conditions. A hybrid system of a fuel cell, PV array and battery connected to a load is presented in this paper. This paper focuses on the integration of photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell (FC) for sustained power generation. Fuel Cell and PV are the primary power sources of the system, and a battery combination is used as a backup and a long-term storage system. An overall power management strategy is designed for the proposed system to manage power flows among the different energy sources and the storage unit in the system. A simulation model for the hybrid power source has been developed using MATLAB/Simulink.

Frequency response analysis of the gear box in a lathe  machine using transfer functions

- In this research work, frequency response of the gear box in the medium duty lathe machine is studied using transfer functions. The effect of the torque acting at a particular rotor on the amplitude of vibration of the other rotors is studied. Initially, equation of motion is developed for the multi-rotor system in the gearbox and later, Laplace transforms are applied to find the transfer functions. Torque acting at various rotors is also calculated. The obtained characteristic equation and the transfer functions are solved for poles and zeros (frequencies to attenuate the inputs at every rotor) by writing programming in MATLAB. Plots of the frequency response curves are plotted by writing the programming in MATLAB and the final conclusions are drawn.

Zoom FFT Algorithm in Ultrasonic Blood Flow Analysis  Using MATLAB

An adequate blood supply is required for the normal functioning of all organs in the body. However this flow can be impeded due to several reasons, thrombus or clot being a major one. Detection of such clots is done with the help of an imaging technique called “DOPPLER ULTRASONOGRAPHY” by transmitting an ultrasound pulse and calculating the frequency of the received signal. If there is no clot the reception is always a homogenous signal, whereas if a certain part being sonographed has a clot the received signal shows a variance in frequency which depends upon the distance from the receiver. Hence blood clot detection in ultrasonography is based on obtaining the frequency variance and applying adaptive thresholding.In this work we propose a ZOOM FFT based technique followed by automated adaptive thresholding to detect the clot. Data files are synthesized by simulation in MATLAB. Also the entire system is developed in a Matlab environment for the system to be both simple

Implementation of Three Level Inverter with Single ZSource Network in MATLAB

The Z-Source concept has many advantages and can be applied for any type of power conversion. Both boosting and modulation index can be controlled in inverter operation itself, by inserting proper shoot through states. This paper presents procedure for implementing, space vector modulated REC Zsource inverter in MATLAB SIMULINK by inserting shoot through states. It also explains a clear procedure of selection of shoot through states at required time and presents an overall tabular column of the sequence of switching states for three level space vector modulation. The proposed techniques are demonstrated in MATLAB and have achieved good performance results.
